Clinical Psychology & Wellbeing Services in Basel, Switzerland
About Rebecca
Rebecca Bower is a UK-trained Clinical Psychologist and recognised psychotherapist based in Basel, Switzerland. She is the founder of Wolleb Bower Thrive Abroad, offering evidence-based psychological support for children, adolescents, and adults.
Her work is grounded in clinical expertise and a genuine belief in each person's capacity for growth. Whether navigating change, managing stress, or strengthening emotional wellbeing, Rebecca creates a safe, collaborative space where insight and lasting progress can take place.
Drawing from cognitive-behavioural therapy, emotion regulation, and strengths-based practice, her sessions are always tailored to the individual — their needs, their context, and their goals.
Background
Rebecca has worked across a range of specialist settings within the NHS, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Maternity and Neonatal Services, Adult Mental Health, and Intellectual Disability services. More recently, she has extended this clinical work to serve English-speaking international communities in Basel. Throughout her career she has worked with children, young people, and adults using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other integrative models — always tailoring each intervention to the individual's unique needs and circumstances.
Six years embedded as School Counsellor at the International School of Basel deepened Rebecca's understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges that come with global mobility. Working with students of all ages, as well as their families and staff, she developed specialist expertise in supporting the expatriate community through transitions, identity, and wellbeing. This experience also inspired her to co-author The RAFT That Soared — a story and activity journal designed to support children and young people navigating relocations and change.
